    Hi all,

I have my email synced to oro from Gmail. How would I go about creating a new contact or a lead in Oro from one of these email threads?

It seems like there should be a way to do this without manually typing the contact name and email address into a form.

Please let me know if you have found a way to do this.

    Hello.

We have functionality that allows to perform custom actions during email syncs. By default these actions executed only during sync of the first email in thread, but if you can customize it if you need.

For example, you can set up automated Case or Lead creation for each email in thread in system mailbox – you can do that at Configuration > Email Configuration > your mailbox > Email Processing > Action.

If you want to create contacts – check this class and this process to get basic understanding of how it works.

    Hi Michael,

There is no out of the box option to create Lead or Contact from an email right now. We have this feature in our roadmap though and will try to implement it in the near future.

@Artem – Thanks. Please keep me posted.
@Yehvan – I tried moving the messages to an imap folder called “New Leads” and then running the email processing on that folder. However, it looks like the processing isn’t designed to work that way, because I received an error message that the time of the message was before the last sync (syncs are on a 1 minute cron). Perhaps this only works if lead fills in a webform and a web form generates an email to a sales inbox. My use case is: someone emails me and I decide this might be an opportunity for new business.

In this case I agree with Artem – there is no such functionality out of the box. However, you can create your own controller action to handle Lead/Contact creation and add appropriate button on email view page using placeholder.
